Your data and privacy
ALT keeps your plan on your Mac. Here is what stays on your device, what leaves it and when, and how to take access back.
What stays on your Mac
Tasks, projects, areas, notes, time blocks and working hours live in a database on your Mac. There's no account and no sync between devices yet, and we don't have a copy. The app has no analytics or tracking code.
Calendars
With your permission, ALT reads events from Apple's Calendar app, including the iCloud, Google and Outlook accounts added there. In Settings → Calendars you choose which calendars count as busy time.
ALT changes a meeting only when you move or resize it on the Day yourself, and ⌘Z puts it back. ALT writes to a calendar only the blocks of tasks of areas you pick in Settings → Calendars → Task blocks: one busy event per block, named after the area or project.
To take access back, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
The assistant
The chat runs on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter key. ALT sends data only when you send a message: your message and the part of your plan it needs to answer, such as tasks, projects, notes, estimates, working hours, time blocks, and the titles and times of meetings for the days in view.
- The request goes straight from your Mac to the service you chose. It doesn't pass through our server, and that service's privacy policy applies.
- With an Anthropic key, the chat can search the web. The search runs on Anthropic's side, as part of the same request.
- Your key is kept in the keychain. To remove it, open Settings → AI and press Remove.
- The plan changes only after you press Apply, and you can undo it.
Dictation
Speech is recognized on your Mac. The sound isn't sent to us or anyone else. If your Mac has no speech model for the language, ALT doesn't fall back to the cloud: it asks you to turn on Dictation in System Settings → Keyboard, which downloads the model.
Claude Code and Codex
ALT's MCP server answers only apps on this Mac, without our server. But Claude Code and Codex send what they read to Anthropic and OpenAI. In Settings → AI you choose for each one whether it may change anything and whether it sees all areas, one area or one project. Details are in Claude Code and Codex.
Undo and history
Every change made by the chat, Claude Code or Codex shows who made it. Change History keeps the last 7 days, and any batch can be undone. Open it from Settings → AI → Change History.
Take your notes with you
File → Export Notes to Markdown... writes every note as an .md file into a folder you choose. Tasks and projects have no export yet. See Notes and Obsidian import.
