Privacy Policy
The short version
- The ALT app keeps your plan on your device. There are no ads, analytics or trackers in the app. This website uses Google Analytics only if you allow it.
- The AI sees your plan only when you ask it something, and the request goes straight from your device to the AI provider you chose.
- If you join the beta, we keep your email and answers to invite you and to learn who ALT is for. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
1. Who we are
ALT is a planning app for Mac, iPhone and iPad, made by Dmitrii Bugaev, an independent developer. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Dmitrii Bugaev. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@altplan.app.
This policy covers this website, the beta waitlist and the ALT app.
2. The website and the beta waitlist
What we collect
- Your email address.
- Your answers in the form: whether you plan alone or with a team, which devices you'd use, your role and the planning tools you use today.
- Your consent to our emails and the time you gave it.
- The page that sent you here and campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), if there are any.
- Your country, worked out from your IP address.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and block abuse. From your IP address we keep only your country, to see where interest in ALT comes from. We don't use any of it to identify you.
Fonts are served from our own site. The website sets no cookies unless you allow analytics, see Analytics on the website.
Why we collect it
- To invite you to the beta and tell you about the launch. We email you only because you agreed to it.
- To understand which devices and tools beta testers use, so we build the right things first.
Where it's stored and for how long
Waitlist data is stored in a Cloudflare database (Cloudflare D1). We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and no longer than 12 months after ALT's public launch.
Every email we send has a way to unsubscribe. You can also write to us and we'll delete your data.
Analytics on the website
We use Google Analytics to see how people find this website and use it: the pages you open, the site that sent you here, your device and browser, your approximate location and whether you opened or finished the beta sign-up. Your email and your answers in the form are not sent to Google Analytics.
Analytics cookies are set only after you press Allow in the cookie notice. Until then, Google Analytics gets only cookieless signals that don't identify your browser. You can change your choice with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page or by clearing this site's data in your browser. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy and keeps it for no more than 14 months.
3. The ALT app
Your plan stays on your device
Tasks, projects, notes, time blocks and working hours are stored on your device. We don't have a copy. ALT doesn't have accounts or sync between devices yet. Before we add them, we'll update this policy to explain what our server stores.
Calendars
With your permission, ALT reads events from the calendars you choose in Apple's Calendar app, including iCloud, Google and Outlook accounts you've added there. It uses them to show your meetings and count busy time. ALT changes an event only when you move or resize it on ALT's timeline yourself, and you can undo that. Calendar data stays on your device unless you use the AI (see below).
Microphone and dictation
With your permission, you can dictate messages to the chat. Speech is recognized on your device by Apple's speech recognition. The audio is not sent to us or anyone else.
The AI chat
When you send a message in the chat, ALT sends your message and the part of your plan it needs to answer: tasks, projects, notes, estimates, working hours, time blocks, and the titles and times of meetings for the days in view. The request goes directly from your device to the AI provider you set up (Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter) under your own API key. We don't receive or store it. That provider's privacy policy applies to the request.
With an Anthropic key, the assistant can also search the web. The search runs on Anthropic's side under your key, as part of the same request.
Your API key is stored in your device's keychain. Changes the AI suggests are applied only after you press Apply, and you can undo them.
Claude and Codex on your Mac
If you connect Claude or Codex to ALT over MCP, they read and change your plan and notes through a connection on your Mac. What they send to their own services is covered by their terms and privacy policies.
Crash reports and beta feedback
The app contains no analytics or tracking code. If you test ALT through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and any feedback you choose to send with us.
4. Sharing
We don't sell your personal information and don't share it for advertising. We share data only with providers that run the service for us (Cloudflare for the website and the waitlist, Google for website analytics if you allow it, and an email delivery service for beta emails), or when the law requires it. Each of these providers must protect your data at least as well as this policy does.
The AI provider in the chat is the one you choose and connect with your own key. ALT sends it data only when you send a message.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Write to privacy@altplan.app and we'll answer within 30 days.
In the app, you can take back permissions at any time: calendars, microphone and speech recognition in your device's Privacy settings, and the AI by removing your key in ALT's settings (Settings, AI, Remove).
California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We don't sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines it.
EU and UK residents. We process waitlist data based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, and keep the website secure based on our legitimate interest. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Children
ALT is not meant for children under 13, and the beta waitlist is not meant for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us their data, write to us and we'll delete it.
7. Security
The website and waitlist work only over HTTPS. Access to waitlist data is limited to us.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll email people on the waitlist before it takes effect.
